DT Day with Paper Nest Dolls

Hi, Sue from Sue's Paper Crafts with you today is my day to share my project made with this month's sponsor image from Paper Nest Dolls. I choose this cute mermaid to work with because I love mermaids and lighthouses.

I have had this little cutting board for a few months trying to decide what to do with it. It measures 5 1/2" tall (without the handle) x 4 1/2" wide. I got it at a little place called The Kitchen Collection, it was only a couple of dollars.

After I colored the image with colored pencils I fussy cut it then I coated the cutting board with a coat of Mod Podge. When the first coat dried I put a coat on the back of the cutout mermaid and adhered it to the board. After it dried I put another layer of Mod Podge over all of it.

I added some jewels and a ribbon.

Please come and join in the fun with this month's Watercolors challenge at Connie Can Crop.

YouTube Tuesday-No-Line Water-Coloring

Hi!  Kim from Katydid Cards here with the final YouTube video on water-coloring.

I tried no-line water-coloring not too long ago and I loved it.  I can't wait to try it again soon.

In the event you haven't tried it yourself, here's a video to give you a jumpstart:

I was really surprised at how easy this technique was and yet it looks just like a real water-colored image.

Hope you give this a try and be sure to share it in our water-coloring challenge...you still have a few days left.  You can find all the details here.

Snowflake Wishes

Hi there!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards.  Today I'm sharing my design team project using an image from our sponsor this month.

I decided to use the Caroling Snowmen for my card today.  I wanted to try a new to me card fold technique and this image worked perfectly for the front panel!

The image was colored with Copic markers and then accented by both white and black Nuvo Drops and red Stickles.  The image was printed twice; tracing and cutting one of them to pop it on dimensionals.  A little shading behind the snowmen and sponged around the edges with Soft Suede ink to provide depth.   I think you can see all that dimension in this close-up:

The card fold is called Double Z Joy Fold card...at least that's what it was called in the tutorial.  I combined Real Red and Soft Suede card stocks for the base and Whisper White for the image and sentiment panels.  Here's another look at it down from the top:

I didn't take a good picture from the opposite angle so you could see the sentiment and another panel covered with patterned paper from the retired Stampin' Up My Digital Studio.  The sentiment says:

"Wishing you snowflakes, friendship and winter cheer."

I hope you get the chance to visit Paper Nest Dolls to see their complete collection.

And how about joining us in the monthly challenge on Connie Can Crop.  This month the theme is water coloring.  Any sort of project will work just so long as there's some sort of water-color technique.  You can find all the details here.
