DT: Flowers & Birthdays Oh My!

Hi! This is Angela, with 3*crazy*monkeys and its my day to share with you what I made.
I created this card to go along with this months challenge theme :)

I went super simple, super easy, and I really love how it came out! I simply took a card base I have, added some American Crafts washi tape to it (in all the challenge colors), added 3 foam flowers and stamped Happy Birthday to it. BAM, DONE! LOL

  Brain Freeze- PCW Day

Hello my crafty friends!!
This is Connie with Connie Can Crop and I am super excited to be posting as a designer for Paper Crafting World. I am so excited to be able to share these adorable cut and digital files with you.

It is HOT HOT HOT here is So Cal!! So this cute teddy bear is bringing on the summer fun! For this layout I used Paper Crafting World's Bear with Popsicle Cut File. This file is available for only $1.99 in the PCW shop.

I used my Cricut Explore to cut the all my pieces and inked the edges!!
I also decided to add a slurpee from my Cricut files to the title (is not included with the cut file).

I finished off this layout off with some basic borders in fun prints, lots of pop dots, and some sparkles! Now for some Summer fun photos of the kiddos drinking slurpees on 7-11 day!!

Be sure to stop by Paper Crafting World and see all the great files waiting for you!

I can't thank you enough for checking out my project. It means the world to me and I hope you truly enjoyed it. May it inspire you to create something wonderful!   Scrappy Hugs!

  You're on a Roll

Hello everyone, it's Kim from Katydid Cards.  Today I'm sharing my Design Team project.  I'm featuring the Sushi digital image from our sponsor this month, Craftin' Desert Divas.  I'll show you my card first and then talk a bit about how it came together.

When I settled on the design I wanted to use, I sized the image to fit appropriately.  In my Silhouette Designer Edition, I positioned the three California Rolls in the center of the tray.  When I had them where I wanted them, I erased the tray behind them for one seamless image.  I traced around the perimeter and cut it as one piece.

I also cut a separate California Roll to use as an embellishment with the chopsticks.  I split the chopsticks image to make it two individual pieces as I wasn't sure at what angle I wanted to place them.  Creating two gave me the flexibility to place them however I wanted.  I colored the images with Copic markers.  I popped the tray and the top half of the single roll.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to heat emboss the card using an Asian Artistry stamp (retired Stampin' Up) I had or dry emboss with a folder from the Cuttlebug Oriental Weave collection (retired); so I did both.  I heat embossed the front and dry embossed the inside.  I wish I had a different stamp set, but this was all I had.  I'd never used an embossing folder on the inside of the card, but it was an unexpected twist and I think I'll try it again.

I didn't realize until after I made the card Craftin' Desert Divas also has a companion Soy Sauce digital image.  Had I seen than, I would most certainly have added it to the would have been perfect with the sentiment I used.  And speaking of the sentiment, I used the font Chinese Takeaway (how appropriate is that!).

You still have time to enter Connie Can Crop's monthly challenge.  This month it's a color challenge, so you can make any project you want so long as it contains these colors...just perfect for summer!

The winner, picked at random, will receive a great prize from Craftin' Desert Divas.  In addition, we will select our three favorites and will announce them our blog.  You'll also get a badge to display on your blog or social media and bragging rights!  You have until July 31st at 11:59 pm PST to enter, so go make something in the colors above!  Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

See you next time!

YouTube Tuesday - Interactive Ocean Themed Card

Hi there!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards with another YouTube Tuesday.

Did you hop along with Connie on the Under the Sea Blog Hop?  If so, I hope you're inspired to make some gems of the sea projects of your own.

I'm here today with an interactive ocean themed card I think you'll like and, with the step by step instructions, I think you'll be making a lot more of these!

This video is by Lawn Fawn so, of course, the products they show are their own, but you could certainly use any manufacturers' stamps.  Not into fish?  Wouldn't this circular spinner be great with an airplane, or how  about a hot air balloon or a dog, these last two have links to cards I've made and will take you to my gallery.

I don't want to leave without reminding you about Connie's monthly challenge.  This month it's a color challenge.

You can make any project you want just so long as you use the color palette.  You have until July 31st, 11:59 pm PST.  One winner will be picked at random and win a prize from our sponsor, Craftin' Desert Divas.  We will also pick our three favorites and you'll get a badge for your blog and bragging rights!

  Question of the Week

Remember.. I want you to answer the question in the comment section too!
if you have a question to ask for an upcoming week add that in the comments too, if you ask a question and I use it you will win a prize!!
Today's question is in honor of 4th of July
If you could give a new stamper one tip that has improved your own stamping, what would it be?
Angela-  I have been using close to my hearts suggestion more and more, and getting very nice stamp lines. They suggest using a foam pad under your paper for a more even stamped image (if you have any ctmh stamps, use the lad that comes in each set). Also, make sure you have a quality ink. I bought cheap ink in the beginning not knowing and it was horrible.
Veronica – Good question. I would be in my case to use a foamy mat or an special stamping mat (thicker foam) to stamp more even. And To apply even pressure only in the center of the stamping block.
Kim- The thing that has improved my stamping by leaps and bounds is the MISTI. It isn't cheap and I hesitated quite a while before getting one, but all my stamped images are crisp and clean, no rocking, no smudges. I love it! And now they have a smaller version which is slightly less expensive (and a larger one for scrapbookers). This is a non-paid endorsement.

Connie- I also use a foam mat of some sort for padding under whatever I am stamping. It really does help with the image quality. I also find that if you store your ink pads upside down, they don't dry out as bad. Always do a test image first before you stamp your finished project. And I like to put my stamp face up on the table (on a block) and then use the ink pad to ink it by dabbing the ink pad on to the stamp instead of putting the stamp in the ink. (hope I didn't confuse you!) I also love the idea of the misti but I refuse to spend that kind of money on one so I found a tutorial and am making my very own. Stay tuned!! I will be sharing the video soon!
Got a question for us...don't be shy, ask us!!
