Remember.. I want you to answer the question

AND
if you have a question to ask for an upcoming week add that in the comments too, if you ask a question and I use it you will win a prize!!

Here is today's question!!
From our dedicated follower Karen Ladd
"What do you do with the cards and projects that you make? Do you give them away or let them pile up?"

AngelaI try and give them away unless it's something that I absolutely love that I made! I always feel like I never have the occasion of s card that I need though!

VeronicaLol, both, some I give to friends or family. The rest just pile up.

MarjiLast year I discovered a lady selling cards at a mall. I send her a bunch of cards every few months and she sells them for me. I get a little money here and there. Otherwise they pile up. I quit sending them to extended family because they aren't appreciated.

Kim-
While I don't intend to, I allow them to pile up....and up....and up.

Sue-  I have piles of cards and other projects coming out of my ears. Whenever I need to send a birthday card I always make a fresh one, it just seems more personal to me than pulling one from my stash.

Connie- I actually have quite a stock pile for my own personal use. I send out all my own cards, I refuse to buy any! I also sell my cards on Etsy and at craft shows. I have also donated cards to places like women's shelters, to the military, Hospitals, Senior Centers and to other organizations. SO if you have a huge pile of cards that need to find a home may I suggest you donate them to organizations in your local area.

Here is today's question!!
Do you ever sketch a layout or card before starting?

Angela-I don't...not for any reason other than I'm too lazy for the extra work !

Veronica-I used to sketch my layouts a while ago, but now, my thoughts runs so much quicker than my sketch pad 😂, so I just try to play catch up and let it be what I becomes...
Marji-Never. I have a really hard time following a sketch. I just lay things out before gluing until I get the look I like.

Kim- Never. My cards are always an evolution...rarely do they end up being what I had initially pictured in my mind's eye.

Sue-No, I just get to work.

Connie-Actually I have. Many times. It really helps me decide what I am going to create. Especially with my layouts..

Here is today's question!!
April's QOTM from our follower Bunny: Her question is: If you wanted to teach someone about paper crafting what are the 6 tools would you tell them are must haves?
Shannon- Well....#1-definitely a paper trimmer. #2-tape runner. #3-I like to have a separate ruler from my trimmer. I think it makes things easier to line up your pictures and center them. #4-....I'm starting to struggle lol. I think I would say scissors for light trimming. #5-I'm gonna go with a glue pen of sorts. I think if you had those five things you would be well and good. If I have to pick a sixth item which it likes like I do :) I am going with a Cricut!! I love mine!! It's the best!! You could live without it, but I don't know why you would want to!!

Angela- Scissors, good card stock, glue pen & liquid glass, stamps/ink (has to be a good brand!), die cutting machines are nice to have if it's in your budget and I love my big shot and all of my dies!

Veronica- My go to have ones are paper trimmer (I have 1 in each corner or bag in my house), craft knight and/or scissors (for sure scissors), stamping blocks/stamps (basic ones at least Happy Birthday), rulers (nice broad ones, like CTMH or Martha Stewart's), Tape runners, and a die cutting machine (my big shot or baby blue die cutting machine/ basic dies, for manual cutting; or cricut for electronic cutting). My to go bag has scissors, ruler, paper trimmer, tape runners, stamps and blocks (mini inks), sanding block, and a variety of glues.

MarjiPaper trimmer, good precision scissors, quality adhesive, quality paper, stamps and ink pads

Kim-I would say start with good quality inks, paper, trimmer, adhesive, scissors and stamps, of course. But, my gosh, there's so much more I would want them to have to really enjoy the experience.

Sue- Paper trimmer, score board, printer, WeRMemory Keepers magnet cutting mat (helps me get things straight), Cuttlebug (or something similar) and a credit card with a very high credit line.

Connie- I have to say this is a challenging question for the girls that packs everything but the kitchen sink! LOL! I would say: scissors, adhesive, trimmer, my cricut, paper, pens.

So there you have it Bunny...looks like you are all set to teach your next class!!

Today's question
- Is there a technique you haven't tried yet but have been wanting too? Maybe something out of your normal box?

Angela-  Probably so basic but I am so afraid to try those awesome box cards! they intimidate me on every level! And I love how the layered stamped images looks on cards...again, something I'm afraid of trying (and they are probably both so basic!)
Veronica – I would love to use the Finnabair rust-antiquing technique using her pastes. I bought the pastes last month. It could be messy, thus, I am still thinking about it before using it.

Kim- The first thing that came to mind...I have been wanting to work more with vellum and acetate. I bought all the supplies I need and they're sitting here waiting to be used. I seem to be better at stocking up for new techniques than trying them. There are lots of other techniques I'm interested in, but they're messy...and I hate getting messy!

Connie- For me I really want to learn how to quill and make 3D flowers look more realistic. I am not very good at rolling flowers. I need to practice! I bought tons of quilling supplies but just can't figure it out. LOL! I need to watch some videos and find the time! Other than that I think I have played with most mediums...taking art in college recently helped me discover that getting messy is fun!

Today's question is in honor of 4th of July
If you could give a new stamper one tip that has improved your own stamping, what would it be?
Angela-  I have been using close to my hearts suggestion more and more, and getting very nice stamp lines. They suggest using a foam pad under your paper for a more even stamped image (if you have any ctmh stamps, use the lad that comes in each set). Also, make sure you have a quality ink. I bought cheap ink in the beginning not knowing and it was horrible.
Veronica – Good question. I would be in my case to use a foamy mat or an special stamping mat (thicker foam) to stamp more even. And To apply even pressure only in the center of the stamping block.

Kim- The thing that has improved my stamping by leaps and bounds is the MISTI. It isn't cheap and I hesitated quite a while before getting one, but all my stamped images are crisp and clean, no rocking, no smudges. I love it! And now they have a smaller version which is slightly less expensive (and a larger one for scrapbookers). This is a non-paid endorsement.

Connie- I also use a foam mat of some sort for padding under whatever I am stamping. It really does help with the image quality. I also find that if you store your ink pads upside down, they don't dry out as bad. Always do a test image first before you stamp your finished project. And I like to put my stamp face up on the table (on a block) and then use the ink pad to ink it by dabbing the ink pad on to the stamp instead of putting the stamp in the ink. (hope I didn't confuse you!) I also love the idea of the misti but I refuse to spend that kind of money on one so I found a tutorial and am making my very own. Stay tuned!! I will be sharing the video soon!

Today's question is in honor of 4th of July
How do you celebrate the 4th of July?

Angela- Every year, we head down south to watch fireworks. We make the day of it...we swim in the ocean, have dinner on the boardwalk, walk around and look at all the vendors and then watch a magnificent show over the ocean, on the pier!
Veronica – We really don't do anything special. I wish we did. But parades here in San Antonio are out of the questions because of the mega-crowds. We do watch the fireworks from my window or balcony. My husband works most holidays too, so it is difficult to celebrate with BBQ...

Kim- We have a family get-together to celebrate the 4th and also a family member's birthday which falls on the 3rd. Low key, but lots of fun. We do try to be home the night of the 4th because our pets are terrified of fireworks. There aren't any official fireworks near us but lots of people in our neighborhood shoot off "illegal" fireworks all-night-long!

Connie- We usually BBQ, sometimes just us, sometimes with friends. And then we light off a few small fireworks. The boys enjoy being pyromaniacs! We like to be home because our neighbors go CRAZY with illegal fireworks and we want to make sure our house doesn't burn down!!

Wishing you all a Safe and Happy 4th of July!!

Remember.. I want you to answer the question in the comment section too!

Today's GREAT question comes from Jean Bullock.....
I have been wondering how crafters manage to bring their supplies with them when they fly. I have read that liquid things and anything that could be used as a weapon are not allowed. Obviously craft knives and tool in one products etc could be used in that way. Is that only for carry-on luggage or does that apply to ALL luggage?

Angela- I don't ever travel and bring craft stuff...I don't have any local friends that craft nor do I have any when I go home to NY (well my former home!). I just craft on my own!
Veronica – When I travel, I do bring my to-go craft bag and some other supplies. I bring small quantities, and a skinny paper trimmer, but I bring it in my regular luggage. In my carry-on I put some WOTG paper packs, which might be heavier.

Kim- I don't travel with craft supplies...in fact, I don't travel at all. But if I did need to get craft supplies from Point A to Point B, I think I would look into shipping them. I'd actually feel my stuff would be safer than way than in the hands of TSA if I packed all the stuff in a suitcase to be checked.

Connie- I actual travel with craft supplies all the time. My stuff has gone on cruises, and flown to Florida, Colorado, and Utah. It's really pretty easy if you ask me. All of the sharp objects like scissors, tools, and trimmers go in my checked luggage. My liquid adhesives too (in ziplock baggies). But the rest of my projects, markers, and such go in my smallest suit case that fits in the over head carry on compartment. That way I know my papers and photos are not getting damaged under the plane. I have never lost anything and have never had anything break. And then I can work on my projects while on vacation when I have a break!

Okay, it's your turn to answer!!

Here's a non-crafty question for you this week...

I'm sick with a really bad summer cold. Please tell me what are some of your remedies to help beat the summer sickies.

Connie- I'm the one who's sick...and have no answers!

Angela- I always put Vicks Vapo-rub on my feet at night with socks. Helps kill my cough in the morning. And NyQuil. Lots and lots of NyQuil.
Veronica – My go to remedy is honey with lemon, but eucalyptus tea might be better for you.

Kim- For many years I suffered from summer colds and just put up with it without doing anything. One such cold coincided with a routine doctor's appointment and he told me I didn't have a cold at all...what I really had was allergies and it was causing post nasal drip and the resulting cough. I was hard pressed to believe him because my symptoms were classic "cold", but I tried the Astelin Pro Nasal Spray he gave me and, darned if it didn't work like a charm! I swear by that stuff now!

Here's the question for this week...

Have you ever had your work published? If so, how did you go about it?

Connie- I haven't ever been published. So I have no idea!

Angela- Me either! LOL
Veronica – I haven’t been published.  I would love to, though…

Kim-  I have been, but it was quite by accident. I happened upon an open call for submissions to Scrap N' Art Magazine (on-line publication) and sent a picture of one of my exploding box cards. I heard back from them a week or so later that they accepted my card...it was placed under submissions from readers. It's a great place to start, learning what publications require. Check them out at http://scrapnart.com/page/submissions
