To continue along with this months sponsor and challenge theme, I created another Bee card! 

I used another card base from The Cutting Cafe called Card Fold w/circle Window. Super easy card base to cut! I found these cute little bees from Kate's ABC cartridge . The sprinkles and sentiment are both from Jaded Blossom. I plan on giving this card to my mom for Mother's Day, since we always call her the queen bee! (I seem to be taking that title from her though LOL!)

Spring Burlap Wreath

Hello my Crafty friends!

On Tuesday I told you I was going to make a burlap wreath, and I did!!

A really bright Spring wreath with burlap purchased at Dollar Tree.

In case you missed the You Tube Tuesday Posting on this type of Wreath you can find it here.

It took 3 rolls of burlap ribbon, 1 wire hanger, and 2 clip on flowers (bought at Dollar Tree as well).

This whole project from start to finish took me 20 minutes and no glue involved!

I can't wait to make another one...but the next one I am going to use two wires to make it bigger and do a natural burlap. Should be gorgeous!! So stay tuned!!

What’s one purchase you’ve made you later regretted?

Connie- For me I usually wait a while before I jump and buy something. I don't have the luxury of extra money for big purchases so I really want to see what the reviews are and hear from people I know whether or not they love the product first. The only thing I did buy that I can remember that I regret is this paper cutter machine. I don't even remember the name. But you would put your sheet in the top of it and it would cut it into perfect strips or mats when you cranked the handle. I thought I would really use it but it was so bulky and just not my thing. If you know what I am talking about and remember the name please share it in the comments!!

Angela- I kind of love everything I have bought. My problem is I just buy too much. You should see my paper! I have no space for it and I just can't get rid of it. One day...I may just use it. I guess if I had to pick something, it would be the millions of stickers I have....way before cricut or silhouette, I used stickers on my scrapbook pages. Those days are long gone and the stickers just sit.

Kim- I've have many regrets over impulse purchases after seeing a demonstration or video. I have things like gamsol, chameleon markers, rubber cement and on and on and don't remember why I even have some of them. However, my single largest regret is the Cricut which is been sitting, untouched, since the day I bought it. Not that I don't love what I can produce with it, but I'm so at ease working with the Silhouette I hate the thought of having to remember how to use the Cricut again and I have a space issue so bringing it out means I have to find a spot for it.

Veronica- I completely agree with Kim. I am guilty of charge. I have mini minc, I am not happy about it. The same with a crafting station I have to learn how to use. Just to name a few... not to mention the many products I have doubles because I forgot I didn't have previously and in an impulse I buy again...

Crayola Crayon Day

Pin It        Hi there!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards and I'm happy to be here with you today!

I don't know about you, but give me some crayons and a coloring book and I'm a happy camper, so I couldn't let Crayola Crayon Day go by without a tribute.  That's right, Crayola Crayons have their very own day!

I was thrilled to receive an "adult" (don't take that the wrong way ;-) coloring book on my last birthday and had only seen one prior to that.  It was nice not to be coloring Barney or Mickey Mouse...not that I have anything against either of those fine gentlemen, but I was yearning for something a bit more detailed.  Fast forward a year and these coloring books can be found everywhere!  So I'm guessing lots of people enjoy coloring as much as I do.

So as an homage, I made a crayon themed card in honor of the occasion:

I made this card using a cut file from the Silhouette Store with a few changes and I like the bright colors...great way to use up scraps, too.  I don't have any kids in the family or circle of friends to whom I can send this card, so I decided to create a sentiment I could use for an adult...

I have a few friends who are colorful...and they make my life colorful, too, so I'm happy they're in my life.

But back to Crayola...

I discovered Crayola has produced about 400 unique shades of crayons since 1903!  And I thought I was well supplied with a box of 64!  Crayola still has a core group of 120 colors but they have also produced several unique sets including metallic, gem tones and even scented.

Under another name, Crayola started as a pigment supply company but moved into arts and crafts, starting with chalks then moved into crayons and expanded to colored pencils, markers, paints and modeling clay to name a few.  They are also the creators of Silly Putty.

Here's something I bet you didn't know...Crayola is owned by Hallmark Cards!

Crayola factories are located in Easton, PA, Orlando, FL and another in Minneapolis, MN.  They are open for tours all year.  It looks like a heck of a lot of fun...check it out here.

So now that you know it's a day all about crayons, why not print out a free coloring page and color away.   It's a relaxing way to spend some time and I bet the kids will let you hang your masterpiece on the fridge along with theirs.

And, if you're not into coloring, you can still have fun with crayons.  Take a look at this crayon wreath and this alternative to Valentine's candy using crayons.

How do you celebrate Easter?

Connie- We are Catholic and observe Lent. So we give up meat on Fridays and also give up something personal or promise to do something better all throughout the Easter season. Being raised Greek, we dye some Easter eggs red and play a game with them at Easter dinner. Whoever has the egg that is uncracked is supposed to get good luck. It's fun! We don't really hide eggs anymore since my kids are big but I look forward to having grandchildren one day that I can do all those fun kiddie things for. Easter for me is really about remembering that Jesus died for us. And for being with my family. Thankful that I am blessed to have them in my life. And if they live far away I spend an hour on the phone with them. Always!

Angela- This year I didn't feel like hosting but of course am doing it anyway...BUT....I'm not doing a traditional dinner. We are going to BBQ hotdogs and burgers! We always have a little egg hunt for my boys, their cousins and the neighbor and just hang out the rest of the day smile emoticon

Veronica- My nephews come for visit, so it is really fun. We usually go to Mass and when we come back we do the Easter egg hunt for the kids. We really love to see the children so happy.

Kim- Our Easter day will consist of church in the morning. Later in the day we go to an Easter brunch at a beautiful hotel overlooking the water. The room is beautifully appointed and the food is beyond what you could possibly expect and we eat ourselves into a stupor and then walk (more like waddle after all that eating) along the water's edge.
