Flyin' By

Hello everyone!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards.  Today, for my Connie Can Crop design team post, I'm using a digital image by our sponsor this month, Sasayaki Glitter.

This particular image is named Shy in the Sky, and he sure is a cutie.  I opted to use a Z-fold card to showcase him.

To begin, I brought the image into my Silhouette design screen; sized and reversed it.  I traced it, turning it into a print and cut.  The propeller was cut a second time, so I could pop it for added dimension.  I colored him with Copic markers and added a bit of bling by Eyelet Outlet; an Enamel Dot on the propeller and Round Jewels on the wing, darkening them both a bit to match the card stock.  Here's a closer look at him:

The card base and band was cut from Night of Navy card stock, starting with the Pop Up Box Card cut file by Lori Whitlock.  I used the Carried Away Designer Series Paper as the perfect backdrop for this high-flyin' pilot.  For the band, I took the traced outline from the image and welded it for additional support for the image.  The inserts were included with the cut file.

I created a little banner to attached to the back of the plane and the remainder of the sentiment appears when you open the card.

And here's a final look down from the top so you can see how the inserts are placed in the center square.

Before I leave you, I want to remind you about Connie Can Crop's monthly challenge.  This month, the theme is, "It's a Guy Thing".  You can make any sort of a project you want so long as it follows the theme.  One winner, picked at random,  will receive a prize from our sponsor.

YouTube Tuesday-Masculine Card Idea

Hi everyone!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards with another YouTube video.  I decided to share a video that ties into our monthly challenge, "It's a Guy Thing".

This video uses a nautical image, which is so popular these days.  If you don't have this stamp, there are so many others available, so check your stash to see what you've got!

This video shares so many ideas;  the twisted easel technique, using your dies as stencils, using a stamp positioner, creating a next size label and how to make a nautical, Josephine knot.

I hope you enjoy this video and try this technique...again or for the first time.

And if you make a masculine card, please be sure to enter it in our monthly challenge.  If you'd like to link-up or obtain more information, just click here.

One winner, picked at random, will win a prize from our sponsor, Sasayaki Glitter.

The team will also pick our favorite three who will receive a badge for their blog or social media, plus bragging rights.

YouTube Tuesday - Fun With Sasayaki Glitter Digi Images

Hi folks.  It's Kim from Katydid Cards here with another video.

Since our sponsor this month is Sasyaki Glitter, I thought it would be fun to share some videos of cards made using her adorable digi images.  Each video I found demonstrates a different technique, so I decided to share several.  The first is a speed video with colored pencils:

The second, another speed video, features markers:

The third video, back to colored pencils, but this time with mineral spirits:

I enjoyed watching the process in each of these videos and picked up a few pointers.  I hope you did as well.

Did you notice our challenge this month?  The theme is "It's a Guy Thing".  You can make any sort of a project, it just has to be something masculine; boys...of all ages.  If you'd like to link up your project or would like additional information, just click here.  One winner, picked at random, will receive a prize from our sponsor.

The team will also pick their three favorites who will receive a badge for their blog or social media...plus bragging rights!
